FoodTech Challenge 2.0

The call for applications of the FoodTech Challenge 2.0 just opened. It is a USD $2 million competition presented by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Tamkeen, in association with local research institute ASPIRE.

Its objective is to identify the world’s best agricultural technology solutions on the cusp of transforming traditional agriculture practices to make the food system more efficient and sustainable.

Targeted at early-stage startups and university projects, the competition focuses on two critical tracks:

1. Food Production: aiming to increase the availability of food while exploring ‘next gen’, nutrient rich alternatives
2. Food Loss and Waste: enhancing sustainability across the whole food supply chain

The winners will be offered an opportunity to scale-up their business model within the UAE, supported with R&D, startup acceleration, commercial incentives and mentorship to take winning concepts from lab-to-market.

In addition, on 12th April 2022, we will be hosting a webinar on ‘’How Agtech startups can solve the challenges of UAE and MENA region Food Systems”. This panel discussion among top international Agtech startups will explore the challenges of the Food System in the Middle East, how Agtech can solve them and the opportunities for startups to expand in the region.
